Happy Friday Readers!
Welcome to another weekend and weekends are the best time to sit back relax and watch a movie (or two). There are two films this weekend that if you have time to watch them you should.
The first is Lady Bird, with an amazing and brilliant cast, Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf, showcasing the many layers of a girls relationship with her mother while going through her senior year of high school and dealing with relationships, friendships, sex and the looming future.
I loved this film, while I was only able to relate to a few of the scenarios in the film, I have no doubt that this film resonated with a lot of people, and it definitely deserved the 5 Oscar Nominations, 4 Golden Globe Nominations/2 Golden Globe wins, and so many other awards and recognition.
Right now, Lady Bird is able to be watched not only by purchasing it, but if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can now watch Lady Bird as well as so many of the other amazing 2018 Oscar Nominees & Winners, including Phantom Thread, I, Tonya and others.
Next is the film that I am so excited to go see this weekend as it is now in theatres!
10 years ago, the incredible Broadway musical centered around the
music of ABBA became a worldwide film phenomenon. Mamma Mia! with it’s all-star cast of Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper, Julie Walters, Stellan Skarsgård (and so many more) it’s no surprise that the music and scenes still play over and over in our minds.
Now, the original cast is back with the addition of Andy Garcia and the incredible Cher for the sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Set in the present, we discover more about Donna’s young life, experiencing the fun she had with the three possible dads of Sophie. The twist this time? Sophie is now pregnant, and like her mother, she’ll be a young mom, and she realizes that she’ll need to take risks like her mother did – luckily this time we know who the father is! 🙂
I won’t give spoilers (well i can’t i haven’t seen it yet) but check out the final trailer from Universal right here:
So whether you are going to stay in or go out this weekend, there will definitely be something worth watching! 🙂
Till next Friday Readers, have a wonderful weekend and let yourself escape in the magical world of the movies!
